I’ve been looking to get back into writing and looking at how I used to write, to now looking at how I want to write, takes a lot of ego but a lot of humility too. Maybe a writers ego death?

Sometimes I really love life and appreciate every aspect and memory, Sometimes I really hate it and just want to disappear for like a year.

I cried, highly recommend 🥹
I’ve just seen this show and it’s so beautiful, I truly recommend it.

Call me crazy, but I just don’t think attempting to cyberbully MAPPA into giving us Ice Adolescence or a season 2 is going to work. It’s obviously stuck in development hell, and it sucks but a Twitter campaign isn’t going to change that. It was clearly backburnered to begin with, and then a pandemic, and then this last Olympic shitshow, and then world politics took a sudden and sharp dive for the extremely tense when Putin sent Russia to war and pissed everybody off in the process. And no one expected it to go on this long, and no one expected Russia to be losing.
They’re probably fucked, okay? The character of Viktor Nikiforov would be very hard to win with right now. No one wants or expects a nuanced meditation on the state of international politics and the toll of Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine from a sports anime. But if they ignore it entirely, it would look like making light of the situation. The modern state of Russia appears to be collapsing, thousands of people are dead on both sides, many of them young, and many more may die if Russia does implode under the weight of this failure. And the crimes against humanity that continue to be uncovered as Ukraine takes back their territory will be staggering.
The situation is extremely grave, and when one of your two main characters is from the country who started the whole thing, and not just quietly, no, it’s a big part of his characterization, and in fact the series left off with both characters living in Russia, there’s pretty much no good way to deal with it. It’s too much to attempt to incorporate, but ignoring it would be insensitive.
Ice Ado is probably not happening, or at least not anytime soon. Maybe they can reboot it like Fruits Basket some years down the road, but at present the outlook is grim and frankly they put it off too long and missed their chance.
This is very true. I’d been holding on for so long but there really is no way to release it given the current conflict. I’m good to keep waiting, I think a lot of the charm that Yuri in Ice has is related to the fact that it really helps bring people together and to release it when the world is like this would take away from the big theme of love that the show captures beautifully.
“Just how many times did you tell yourself “it’s okay, I can take it” while being aware that the same thing done to anyone else would be cruel and hurtful, but it was different for you, because you were used to it, and that made it okay?”

This is exactly what I mean when I analyse RWTGI, we don’t select our circumstances because they’re easy but because they feel like home, even if home wasn’t a safe place.
